Scarlett Hooft Graafland (1973) makes magical images of high-altitude salt flats in Bolivia, remote barns in Iceland, the beaches of Dubai, Madagascar, the polar region and the village of Gorinchem, the Netherlands. Travelling to these remote places and cultures, she investigates the relationship between people, traditions and nature. This book gives an overview of her work. Scarlett Hooft Graafland's work is included in several international museum collections and has been exhibited in Huis Marseille in Amsterdam and the photography museum in Seoul, among others.
